You can
sport with an oafish grouper, marvel at a glittering shower
of tropical fish, or intentionally dive among a horde of hungry sharks. Better still, experience the joy of taking your children snorkeling
and excite them with the shy squid, octopus, lobster, and tropical fish that abound in the shallows - they'll talk to friends about it for years.
Have fun watching the abundant small gecko lizards change color before your eyes. See if your're brave enough to grab an 8 inch land crab from the rock wall by your lodging. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to see a small boa-constrictor. Perhaps you'll find a 5foot iguana on a remote beach. Andros nature can provide many simple pleasures both in the ocean and on land.
The bonefishing on Andros is spectacular and attracts the most select fishermen from around the world. Yet these reefs and the island called the "Sleeping Giant" are truely one of those "undiscovered" places. You may call it your greatest discovery. The communities of people here are rarely more than a few hundred in size and are spread over the largest land mass in the Bahamas. If you don't like crowds or noisy cities, don't demand modern entertainment, sophisticated living or fancy dining, and love to view a nighttime sky unpolluted by city lights, then you must try Andros. The people are friendly, the streets are safe. For us, when we're not there our thoughts and our hearts are.
